TO BECOME A PARAPROFESSIONAL

1.
Take and Pass the ParaPro Assessment.
A.  Register to take the exam

**TIP - fastest local location to take the Parapro test has been proven to be at the Prometric Testing Center housed in the Student Center on the LSUA Campus - look for testing site CODE APCN-1313 - it will only show Alexandria, LA as the Test Center and will not say LSUA on the registration website

B. Upload your passing score report (score of 450 or better) to your application online and email to the appropriate Principal AND Human Resources if you have already been recommended for a Paraprofessional position

Apply In Our Portal
In our you’ll be able to view open positions, qualifications, job descriptions, pay scale, & more.
3.
Interview
If your application is chosen, the principal of that particular school will reach out to schedule an interview at the school.
4.
Principal will make a recommendation for hire.
If the principal chooses to hire the applicant, the principal will make a recommendation for hire to the Human Resources Department. 

Human Resources will reach out for fingerprinting and a drug screening. 
  • Cost of fingerprinting is $20 and only cash is accepted. For questions about fingerprinting, reach out to Theda McDowell at 318-487-0888 with Human Resources.
  • LA Wallet is not honored as a form of identification. 
5.
Human Resources will issue a start date.
HR will contact the new hire and communicate the start date.
6.
Attend a New Hire Meeting
The new hire will need to attend a new hire meeting to review procedures and policies before starting the job.
7.
Begin Working
Once the previous steps have been completed, the new hire can begin working at a school in ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ Parish.
