University of California applicants

Applicants to the University of California should note the slightly different timeline that they must adhere to, due to UC's very early internal application deadline.

Successful applicants to UC in 2025/26 received confirmation of their place in late December 2024 and had to accept by 6 January 2025. This meant that, unlike other applicants, students who accepted an offer to the University of California did not have until 16 January to consider other potential options offered through the Subject-specific route.

UC's 2025/26 deadlines were as follows:

University of California timeline
Late December 2024 Confirmation of University of California place to successful applicants
Monday 6 January 2025 (12 noon, GMT) Deadline to accept/decline offer for University of California

Next steps

  • After exchange places have been allocated and all successful students have either accepted or declined the place offered, any remaining available exchange places will then be reallocated.  This happens between January and April.
  • SWAY will nominate all allocated students who have accepted a place to their designated partner institution from late January until June.
  • Students will complete their host institution's application process and complete their pre-departure planning between January and June.
  • Students then depart on exchange between June and October, depending on the host institution's semester dates.
