NoUniversity accommodation Exchange students are eligible to apply for on-campus housing at CJ International House. However, on-campus housing is not guaranteed, so please be prudent before applying if your major concern in choosing a study abroad destination with on-campus accommodation. Do be aware that many rooms are shared bedrooms.Students assigned on-campus accommodation are required to take a tuberculosis test before arrival, issued in English and Korean. These tests are not generally provided by the NHS, so you will have to pay for a private test. Private accommodation For those who are not assigned on-campus accommodation, the Global Services Center will provide information and assistance in finding off-campus residence nearby the campus. There are quite a few private student accommodations called ‘Gositel’ around the campus. These accommodations consist of a small, self-contained furnished room with a shared kitchen and laundry. These accommodations vary widely in terms of room size, rate, meals, cleaning, and laundry services. You may also wish to consider a homestay. This is where students are put in touch with families willing to host students. Immigration requirementsYou should expect to pay a processing fee to obtain your study visa for Korea. Visa requirements can vary depending on your nationality. Health Insurance Health Insurance must cover the entire study abroad period. Students will be automatically registered for the NHI (National Health Insurance in Korea) when they create an alien registration card at the immigration office after their arrival in Korea. However, all international students to Korea University are required to have additional private health insurance in place during their stay.You will be required to submit a Health Certificate as part of the application process at Korea University, which must be completed by a physician. You should expect to pay for completion of this certificate privately, as it is not generally covered under NHS services.
