The University of Pisa was founded in 1343, making it one of the oldest universities in Europe. Today it is a large public institution with more than 50,000 students and high-level research centres in agriculture, astrophysics, computer science, engineering, and medicine. Pisa is a small coastal city in Tuscany best known for its famous Leaning Tower.
