Universität Hamburg

Universität Hamburg is the largest institution for research and education in northern Germany. As one of the country’s largest universities, it offers a diverse range of degree programs and excellent research opportunities.

The university boasts numerous interdisciplinary projects in a broad range of fields and an extensive partner network of leading regional, national, and international higher education and research institutions.

This subject-specific exchange partner is suitable for students in the following subject area(s) only:

This institution is not suitable for joint honours students doing German with a non-language subject.

At this institution, students will be expected to undertake study entirely in German, so they must meet minimum language requirements.

From the host -

Every semester, the Studierendenwerk makes a certain number of rooms available to exchange students at Universität Hamburg, so applying is worth it. However, as the number of rooms is limited, not all applicants can be guaranteed a room

We recommend that you also seek private housing on your own in addition to your application to the Studierendenwerk. Unfortunately, finding affordable housing in Hamburg on your own is not easy. Please start making arrangements as soon as possible.

Most students live in a shared apartment (Wohngemeinschaft or WG in German), a private apartment or a residence hall. Those living in shared apartments or residence halls normally share a kitchen, bathroom, and other common spaces with their housemates.
