Ranked among the top 20 public universities in the nation according to U.S. News & World Report, the University of Connecticut (UConn) enrols approximately 18,000 undergraduate students at UConn’s main campus in Storrs.

At UConn, faculty, staff, and students are dedicated to learning more about the world around them through research, a key factor contributing to its Top 20 status. Collaborative research is carried out within the departments of the 14 schools and colleges and at the more than 100 research centres and institutes.

UConn hosts the University-wide and Subject-specific Chemistry Research exchanges.

Students are required to submit their course preferences as part of the online application process. Upper-division courses (2000 level and above) require evidence of pre-requisites. 

UConn will make every effort to assist exchange students to register for the courses they request in their course preference form. However, students should understand that not all courses listed in the school bulletins will be offered each semester, and some courses will have limited enrolment. 

UConn is only suitable to Economics students if joint honours. 

This exchange is not open to direct-entry students.

Guaranteed accommodation?

University accommodation

Most UConn students live on-campus. On-campus housing is guaranteed for all exchange students that complete the online housing application by the due date. Students will have access to the online housing application after they have been formally accepted to the exchange program. Housing assignments will be made by Residential Life prior to the start of the semester. Single rooms are limited and most students have a roommate. 

Private accommodation

Students tend to live on-campus and not in private accommodation. 


Immigration/Visa requirements

In order to get a visa, you will need to prove you can access the average cost of living at UConn. This is calculated based on how much average costs for accommodation, meals, health insurance etc. will cost. This includes proving access to funds through personal funds, or family or sponsorship funds. The amount to show is around $24,000 in total. This can be across multiple sources. You will need to provide sponsorship letters from personal funds/family members/sponsor funds/Sponsor organisations etc. 

Please bear this in mind. If you cannot prove this, you will not be able to get a visa and therefore not be able to go on exchange.
