University of Mississippi (UMISS)

Regularly recognized as one of the most beautiful campuses, The University of Mississippi Oxford campus is home to most of the University’s undergraduate programs, as well as many graduate faculties. Academic buildings and campus housing nestle around a large green area known as the Grove. Surrounding campus are a number of sports facilities, creating a border between the campus and the community. We are a safe, friendly community with a big passion for Ole Miss.    

The University of Mississippi is located in the heart of the American South, in the north-central region of Mississippi, in a town called Oxford. Oxford is a small town with a big vision.  Full of artists and musicians, the town is well known throughout the United States for its delicious Southern cuisine and great literary traditions, including local writers William Faulkner and John Grisham.

If you are planning on taking courses in these subject areas, you need to be prepared to be very flexible with your course choices. 

This exchange is not deemed suitable for Economics.

  • Even if there are no restrictions on your degree subject, this does not mean that there are appropriate courses for you. 

Most courses are available to exchange students – you can find the course catalogue below:

Select “Course Schedule” on the right side of the screen under “Academics” and then search by term. If the course schedule has not yet been released, search for courses in the previous YEAR (not semester). 

For example: A student wants to find courses for Fall 2025, but the schedule has not been released yet. Instead, the student should search for courses in Fall 2024. 

Intensive English courses are offered at no extra charge to exchange students. Exchange and fee-paying study abroad students can take as few or as many Intensive English courses as desired. 

Courses labelled with a number ranging from 100 to 400 and some 500 level (nothing at 600 or higher) are for undergraduate credit E.g., Business 101, 205, 303, 450, 500.

UMISS reserves housing for incoming exchange students who want it and apply by the deadline.  

There are 2 accommodation options:  

– dormitory hall – 2 students per room 

- apartment style – 4 students per unit with individual rooms and bathrooms

Immigration/Visa requirements  

In order to get a visa, you will need to prove you can access the average cost of living at UMISS. This is calculated based on how much average costs for accommodation, meals, health insurance etc. will cost. This includes proving access to funds through personal funds, or family or sponsorship funds. The amount to show is around $28,000 in total. This can be across multiple sources. You will need to provide sponsorship letters from personal funds/family members/sponsor funds/Sponsor organisations etc. 

Please bear this in mind. If you cannot prove this, you will not be able to get a visa and therefore not be able to go on exchange.
