University of Southern California - Viterbi School of Engineering

Founded in 1905, the USC Viterbi School of Engineering is named for Andrew Viterbi who developed an algorithm to connect the world’s citizens. Similarly, the school, located in Los Angeles, a global center for arts, technology, and international business in the heart of the Pacific Rim, is a hub for entrepreneurship that connects students from 64 countries. Under the leadership of Dean Yannis C. Yortsos, the school helped re-imagine the 21st century engineer, pioneering the Grand Challenge Scholars Program in schools across the globe. Its mission is to serve California, the United States, and the world. USC Viterbi, calls this the enabling power of Engineering+.

Across 8 academic departments, the Viterbi School of Engineering actively supports 14 bachelor's degree programmes, 67 master's degree programmes, and 13 doctoral programmes. With over 101,000 alumni from the USC Viterbi School of Engineering alone, the school is consistently ranked among the top graduate programs.

Its home base, USC, is a leading, innovative private research university that blends the autonomy for exploration emblematic of a private institution with its size and resources, along with the breadth and scale of a public university. Today, USC is home to more than 48,000 students and over 4,400 full-time faculty, and is located in the heart of one of the biggest metropolises in the world.   • Computing, Engineering Exchange 
  • Incoming international exchange students to the USC Viterbi School of Engineering may take any Viterbi Engineering courses, as long as they meet any applicable pre-requisites for each selected course, and as long as space permits. Students must take at least 12 units of Viterbi school courses. Any other courses taken outside of the Viterbi School of Engineering is permitted as long as 12 units are with Viterbi courses, any pre-requisites are met, and space is available. 
  • Incoming international exchange students must find their own housing accommodations, whether on or off campus. Exchange students may apply for USC Housing. Space is not guaranteed, they will try their best to place all interested exchange students in our housing system. Be certain to indicate on your application that you are interested in USC Housing, and remember that you are responsible for paying for your housing costs. .
  • To obtain a U.S. student visa, you will be required to submit bank statements showing you have access to a specific sum. The exact amount varies depending on host institution. At USC, students have been required to demonstrate access to $24,000/year.
