Online language taster classes

Led by qualified teachers from across the Una Europa alliance, these free taster sessions teach you the basics of a new language in just 45 minutes.

To celebrate the European Day of Languages, a collection of online introductory language sessions are being held on 26 September. Hosted by Una Europa, an alliance of 11 leading European research universities, these classes have been designed to give beginners a basic understanding of their language of choice.

Classes are available for:

  • Afrikaans
  • Basque
  • Dutch
  • English
  • French
  • German
  • Irish
  • Japanese
  • Modern Greek
  • Polish
  • Russian
  • Turkish
  • Ukranian.

All sessions are free, online and open to staff and students from the University of Edinburgh and all other Una Europa partner universities.

Registrations close on 24 September.
